Types of Chemical reactions and Equations Class-10th: Hey, Hello dear Students. today in this blog we are going to cover the different types of Chemical Reaction and Equation. Here is the table of content that we have covered in this Blog.

But if you haven’t checked out our last blog which was the 1st part of this blog then just click here to checkout. In the last blog, we have covered

  1. How to write the chemical equation.
  2. balancing of the equations and detailed Question answers related to that topic.

In this blog, we are going to cover different types of chemical reactions and Equations.

TYPES OF CHEMICAL REACTIONS

1. Combination Reaction.

2. De-combination Reaction.

3. Displacement Reaction.

4. Double Displacement Reaction.

Combination Reaction:-

This is a type of Reaction in which two or more than two elements or compounds react together to form one Compound.

Example:- Ca(calcium) + O2—–> CaO (Calcium Oxide)

Q. Write some uses of (CaOH)2 Calcium hydroxide?

Ans:- Calcium hydroxide is used in Paper production, for treatment of water, on construction sites and also in food processing. Also used in making of the cement.

What is the Difference between Exothermic Reaction and Endothermic Reaction?

Exothermic Reaction: This is a type of reaction in which heat is released during the reaction process. Example:- CaO + H2O ——> Ca(OH)2 + Heat

Endothermic Reaction:- This is a type of reaction in which heat is absorbed from the atmosphere during the Reaction. Example:- Melting solid salts, Melting ice cubes.

If you want to do the Activity of this chapter. Then I already have covered all Activity-based problems of this chapter. If you want wants to study all that then click on the given link.

Decomposition Reaction:-

This is completely opposite of the combination Reaction. In this reaction, one compound gets decomposes into two or more than two compounds. Example:- FeSO4 (ferrous Sulphate) (heat)——> Fe2O3 (Ferric Oxide) + SO2 (Sulphur dioxide) + SO3 (Sulphur tri-oxide).

Q. What is the color of the crystals of FeSO4 and Fe2O3?

Ans: The color of Ferrous sulfate (FeSO4) crystals is Green, whereas the color of Ferric Oxide (Fe2O3) is Reddish-Brown.

Q. What is wafting gas?

Ans:- The gases which can stay lightly over water are called wafting gas. SO2 (Sulphur dioxide) and SO3 (Sulphur trioxide) gas are known as wafting gas.

Q. Give some more balanced examples of a Decomposition reaction?

Ans:- Here are some examples of the Decomposition Reaction:-

Types of Chemical reactions and Equations Class-10th photolyotic decomposition reaction
Types of Chemical reactions and Equations Class-10th photolytic decomposition reaction
Types of Chemical reactions and Equations Class-10th thermal decomposition reaction
Types of Chemical reactions and Equations Class-10th thermal decomposition reaction

What are the Different Types of Decomposition reactions? Define them with the help of an Example?

Ans: 1. Photolytic Decomposition reaction.

2. Electroyoyic Decomposition reaction.

3. Thermal Decomposition Reaction.

Photolytic Decomposition Reaction:- This is a type of Reaction in which I the presence of sunlight the reaction takes place. OR When any single compound gets decomposes in two or more than two elements or compounds in the presence of Sunlight then that’s known as Photolytic Decomposition Reaction.

Electrolytic Decomposition Reaction:- This is a type of reaction in which we use electricity to decompose compounds. Or any reaction in which a single compound Decomposes into two or more than two compounds in the presence of Electricity is known as Electrolytic Decomposition Reaction.

Thermal Decomposition Reaction:- This is a type of Reaction in which heat is used to decompose materials. Or When any compound gets decomposes into two or more than two compounds by using heat is known as a thermal decomposition reaction.

Displacement Reaction:-

This is a type of reaction in which highly reactive metal displaces the less reactive metal from its position.

Here are some examples of the displacement Reaction:-

Here is the Reactivity Series do memories it. Most of the Displacement Reaction Question asked from this Reactivity table.

Double Displacement Reaction:-

This is a type of reaction in which two times displacement reaction takes place. Or this is a type of reaction in which the exchange of ions takes place. Here are some examples of Double Displacement Reaction.

Oxidation & Reduction Reaction

Q. What is Oxidation Reaction?

The reaction of elements with oxygen is known as Oxidation.

***points to Remember from this topic. 1). Loss of Electron is known as Oxidation. 2). The gain of Oxygen. & 3). Loss of Hydrogen.

Example:-

Q. What is Reduction Reaction?

Ans: When any compound loses oxygen or gain Hydrogen or gain electrons is known as Reduction reaction.

Example:-

Redox Reaction:-

What is Redox Reaction?

When oxidation & Reduction reaction takes place simultaneously. Then it is known as Redox Reaction.

Example:-

What is Corrosion?

Ans:- Oxidation of Metals is known as Corrosion. Oxidation of Iron is Known as rancidity.

What are the preventions of Corrosion?

Ans:- We can prevent metals to become corrode by using these following methods like:-

  1. Painting.
  2. Galvanization.
  3. Oiling.
  4. Greasing.

What is Raincidity?

Ans:- The Oxidation of fat and oil-containing food is known as Raincidy. This makes the food and rancid in taste. and if you’ll eat the rancid food then it can even cause food Poisoning.

How can we prevent Raincidy?

Ans:- Rancidity can be prevented by the following methods:-

  1. It can be prevented by using antioxidants like BHT and BHA.
  2. By nitrogen flushing.
  3. Refrigeration.

So here’s our class 10th chapter-1 (Chemical Reaction and Equation) chapter Ends. If you have any doubts related to any topic then please let me known in the comment section. I will personally do a reply to you.

Now, this is the time to do the NCERT Questions of this chapter. After or even you can solve the practice questions. of this chapter.
